Technical assessments indicate that this expansion will boost secure government communications capacity by 60 percent within the EU and by 54 percent worldwide, improving regional capabilities during complex crises and infrastructure emergencies.
EU Commission Formalizes Contract to Broaden IRIS2 Satellite Fleet
The SpaceRISE consortium, responsible for the main development and 12-year operational concession, includes major European satellite operators such as SES, Eutelsat, and Hispasat. Implementation efforts are closely coordinated with the European Space Agency, which provides engineering expertise and launch support.
