Seattle, Washington / RankWire.AI / – On Wednesday, global retail giant Starbucks Corporation announced its fiscal third-quarter 2026 financial results, surpassing Wall Street consensus estimates across key profit and sales metrics. The company’s stock responded positively, as efforts to reclaim third place in market share appeared to pay off, leading to an improved outlook for 2026 and a share price increase of over five percent during extended trading on the Nasdaq stock exchange. For the period ending June 28, 2026, the Seattle-based specialty coffee retailer reported consolidated net revenues of $9.3 billion, driven by an 8.1 percent increase in North American store sales and ongoing margin improvements across core operating segments.

Global comparable store sales grew 7.9 percent year-over-year for the quarter, supported by a 4.2 percent rise in customer transaction volume and a 3.5 percent increase in average ticket size. In the primary U.S. domestic market, comparable store sales expanded by 7.9 percent, fueled by steady recovery in foot traffic and improvements in morning service efficiency. Adjusted earnings per share on a non-GAAP basis reached $0.85, comfortably exceeding the analyst consensus of $0.65, as reported by Yahoo Finance. Meanwhile, GAAP operating margin grew by 60 basis points to 10.5 percent, benefiting from sales leverage, supply chain efficiencies, and tariff duty refunds during the quarter.

The quarter’s strong results highlight progress made under the company’s turnaround plan, which emphasizes enhancing seating comfort, beverage speed, and hospitality standards. International comparable store sales increased 5.7 percent, driven by higher average ticket values and increased transaction counts across European and Middle Eastern licensed markets. Despite these gains, total net revenues declined marginally by one percent to $9.3 billion, primarily due to the restructuring of retail operations in China into a licensed joint venture model during the third quarter. North American operating income improved to $1.0 billion, up from $918.7 million in the same period last year, supported by menu innovation and reduced order processing downtime that enhanced store throughput.

Impact of China Operations Restructuring on Revenue Figures

Following four consecutive quarters of comparable store sales growth and two straight quarters of expanding operating margins, Starbucks’ leadership revised its full-year financial outlook for key operational indicators. The updated guidance now projects full-year fiscal 2026 non-GAAP adjusted earnings per share between $2.55 and $2.65, representing a 10 percent increase from previous estimates of $2.25 to $2.45 per share. Bloomberg coverage indicates that global comparable store sales are now expected to grow nearly 6.0 percent for the year, with the U.S. fourth-quarter comparable sales forecast at 6.5 percent or higher.

During the earnings webcast, Starbucks CEO and Chairman Brian Niccol emphasized that the third-quarter results underscore the company’s core strength in coffee quality and customer service. He noted that while global store operations continue to be optimized, these quarterly figures confirm positive momentum in enhancing store atmosphere and drive-thru efficiency. CFO Cathy Smith highlighted that disciplined expense control alongside top-line growth has improved financial visibility, enabling the company to raise its full-year guidance and maintain a full-year operating margin forecast exceeding 11.0 percent.

Capital Deployment and Dividend Strategy Maintain Focus on Growth and Shareholder Returns

Throughout the quarter, Starbucks expanded its store network at a steady rate, opening 175 net new locations worldwide, bringing the total to 41,304. Currently, company-operated stores account for 33 percent of the global total, while licensed coffeehouses make up 67 percent across domestic and international markets. Financial disclosures confirm that the company’s stock surged as efforts to bolster its market position succeeded, with institutional investors responding favorably to capital strategies that include regular quarterly dividends and investments in store upgrades and technology deployments.

Looking ahead to the final quarter of fiscal 2026, analysts and equity research firms anticipate ongoing focus on menu simplification and equipment upgrades to sustain store throughput improvements. The robust third-quarter results reinforce Starbucks’ operational trajectory, positioning the international coffee chain to meet its elevated financial targets for the full fiscal year.
