NEW YORK / RankWire.AI / – Bitcoin’s price dipped below $63,000 as global financial markets experienced a wave of risk aversion, impacting digital assets across the board. Data from cryptocurrency exchange Binance shows that the leading token by market capitalization declined 3.02% within 24 hours, settling at $62,957.83. This recent decline continues a multi-session downward trend driven by volatility in technology stocks, macroeconomic challenges, and changing expectations around monetary policy. Additionally, Bloomberg market data indicates that a sharp rise in long liquidations across derivative trading venues coincided with shrinking spot trading volumes.

Bitcoin price correction touches 62957 amid equity selloff

The decline in Bitcoin coincided with broad weakness in global equity markets, especially within the tech and semiconductor sectors, which saw increased selling pressure. Investors began reassessing risk exposure following mixed earnings reports and growing concerns over artificial intelligence infrastructure investments. As major tech indices retreated, the correlation between high-beta stocks and digital currencies strengthened, prompting institutional managers to cut back on risky liquid assets. Altcoins like Ethereum, Solana, and XRP followed the trend, each recording losses between three and five percent as capital temporarily shifted toward cash equivalents and short-term sovereign bonds.

Sentiment in the markets was further weighed down by earnings reports from key industry players, including Coinbase Global Inc., which posted second-quarter revenue of $1.22 billion—a 19 percent decrease year-over-year that fell short of Wall Street’s forecasts—and a net loss of $359.5 million for the quarter. This earnings release contributed to downward pressure on publicly traded crypto-related companies, intensifying investor caution regarding transaction volume growth and institutional trading fees. Analysts pointed out that declining retail trading activity and lower fee revenues on spot trading platforms have muted investor interest during the summer trading period.

Weakness in Global Risk Sentiment Extends to Technology Stocks

A key driver of market volatility has been macroeconomic developments, notably the U.S. Federal Reserve’s cautious approach after its recent Federal Open Market Committee meeting. Officials signaled that persistent core inflation necessitates maintaining high borrowing costs before any potential rate cuts. Rising yields on U.S. Treasury securities have increased the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding digital assets, reducing institutional appetite. The sustained high-interest-rate environment, coupled with a strong U.S. dollar against major fiat currencies, has created additional hurdles for digital tokens attempting to break through key resistance levels on moving averages.

Data from analytics firm CoinGlass reveals that forced liquidations in the derivatives market reached around $70 million over 24 hours, mainly affecting long positions expecting a rebound above $64,000. Although these forced liquidations were below the panic levels seen during previous corrections, order book depth analysis shows thin bid liquidity near current prices. Notably, U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds experienced net capital outflows in consecutive sessions, indicating a pause in institutional inflows that had supported price growth earlier in the year.

The Tech Sector’s Decline Spurs a Broader Cryptocurrency Selloff

Despite the short-term volatility, on-chain metrics suggest that long-term holders have maintained relatively stable wallet balances, rather than engaging in panic selling. Nonetheless, miner profit margins faced ongoing pressure due to network difficulty adjustments and decreased transaction fee revenues, prompting some commercial miners to liquidate reserve tokens to cover operating costs and energy expenses. This supply absorption, combined with ETF redemption activity and subdued retail trading, created an overhang that prevented intra-day recoveries from gaining sustained momentum beyond key technical resistance levels.

Market analysts are closely monitoring the $60,000 level as a critical support zone, particularly if bitcoin falls below 63,000 amid ongoing volatility. Falling below this threshold could activate stop-loss orders and lead to retests of lower technical ranges between $52,000 and $55,000. Conversely, regaining the 50-day moving average near $65,200 is seen as vital for restoring a bullish market outlook. Investors continue to watch upcoming economic indicators, inflation data, and central bank statements for signs of stabilization or further downside for digital assets.
